  • Calculate valid IP addresses and subnet masks
  • Describe the functions and operations of the network and transport layers of the IP protocol stack
  • Define the characteristics, functions, and components of a WAN
  • Configure Cisco IOS devices
  • Manage devices on a network
  • Configure a Catalyst switch for basic operations
  • Improve the scalability, interoperability, and throughput by implementing VLANs
  • Configure and troubleshoot RIP, EIGRP, and OSPF
  • Configure different types of IP ACLs in order to manage IP traffic
  • Establish a serial point-to-point connection using PPP and HDLC
  • Configure Frame Relay
  • Configure DDR between two routers with BRI or PRI

Key areas of learning:

Module 1: - Introduction to Cisco® Networking Technologies (INTRO)

This module represents a critical first step in any student's mastery of Cisco® networking technologies. Introduction to Cisco® Networking Technologies (INTRO) teaches students fundamental computer networking terms, concepts, and components. Students then apply this knowledge as they configure basic network connectivity via serial and LAN networks using PCs, a hub, a router, and a switch. One of the many critical areas of focus in this course involves the study of the TCP/IP suite of protocols and IP addressing. Students master IP addressing and subnetting by the conclusion of this course.

Prerequisites

The INTRO course focuses on core Cisco® networking technologies. To fully benefit from this course, the student must possess the following:

  • Basic computer literacy (A+ Certification recommended)
  • Basic Windows skills
  • Basic Internet usage skills

Module 2 - Interconnecting Cisco® Network Devices (ICND)

The Interconnecting Cisco® Network Devices (ICND) 2.3 course is a necessity for any student interested in configuring the switches and routers found in Cisco® Local Area Networks (LANs) or Wide Area Networks (WANs) of small to medium-sized enterprises. While this is often considered an entry-level course, students acquire incredibly valuable skills upon completion of the curriculum including the ability to select, connect, configure, and troubleshoot various Cisco network devices. Students easily verify their comprehension and solidify their understanding through the completion of sophisticated hands-on exercises that provide real-world applications within all modules of the course. This critical networking course provides pre-requisite knowledge and training for nearly all advanced courses across Cisco's wide range of technologies.
